State health officials are reminding residents that paralytic
shellfish poisoning known as p s p continues to be dangerous in
personally harvested shellfish such as clams mussels and oysters.

P s p can cause a tingling on your lips and fingertips followed by
numbness in your arms and legs...and in some cases causing death.
Anyone experiencing these symptoms should seek immediate medical
care. P s p cannot be cooked or cleaned from harvested shellfish
but commercially grown shellfish is tested and considered safe.

Most likely a SE wide announcement. A few people in Metlakatla got sick last week from eating cockles.
