    Default Problem with Vanguard Weatherwannabe

I want to refinish the stock on my .270; wood is rough. How do I get the butt pad off? I see no indications of screw holes.

Sayak: I had a rifle that had very small screw holes in the butt pad, they were about pencil lead size and I forced a screw driver in the rubber and did find the screw heads. I would've never thought they were there till I tried. Now if you don't have any thing visible at all you'd better pull out the skill saw.

Or crowbar! I have had rifles with small criss-cross hole patterns, but the butt pad on this one is hard and shows no evidence of screw holes. I guess I'll continue my proctology...

It's the only butt pad I ever plan to probe.

My son's Ruger showed no screw holes after many years. They are there somewhere.

Added on edit: I was just informed by my son that one of his rifles had a glued on pad.

Sayak: Did you ever figure out how to take the pad off?

No. I can find no evidence if screw head holes. I gave up.

Maybe it was glued on as also suggested.
