Default What wt rod for Kenai reds

I fish reds in the Kenai. where we fish the river is pretty swift so i need a rod with plenty of backbone. What wt rod should it get?

I've seen everything from a 5wt to some 12wt telephone poles. A fellow forum member chased reds on the Klutina with a willow branch. So go with whatever weight you feel comfortable with.

I tend to use an 8wt for reds on the Kenai, it's what works for me. Some like the heavier 10s to bring them in, and others like the fight on a 6.

I like my 8wt Lamiglas, never had any issues and fish in some heavy current. I agree use what you feel comfortable with.

Somewhat depends on where you fish. If shoulder to shoulder, 8-9 wt better. If you have room, whatever you like as others have stated. I like an 8wt
