Cool Whats All The Hub Bub, Bub !

This is just for curiosity all, But, Ive noticed on many of the gun forums I belond too, that alot of peaple are worried about bullet weight and penatration, of a 357 magnum as a defence gun, along with numerous other calibers too ! So, my question is, are humans and animals stronger and harder today, than yester year to take down ? Or is it all a bunch of hog wash ?

Could be a little of each. Just because people died when hit one time with a 38 special does not mean the .357 is not a better choice.

Same for animals. Most likely millions of deer were killed with a 30-30. But that doesnt mean an 30-06 is not a better choice for some people.

General rule is the heavier the slug the deeper it will go. But many factors come into play as well.

What I want to know is will a .308 kill a coastal brown bear??? There's a question no one ever asks
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming-----WOW-----what a ride!

NOPE !! You need a minimum of a 416 Rem, Mag. launching a 400 grn bullet. Otherwise the bear, gets a Scooby-Snack.

I have a question that i've been wanting to ask.

Is it true that I should file down the front sight on my .44 Mag so that it doesn't hurt so bad when a charging Brown Bear shoves the thing up my *****?

Not if you use enough K-Y.

There is a faster way off the mountain, might hurt a little though.

My Bear pistol is a Rifle.
If you can't Kill it with a 30-06, you should Hide.

Weight and penetration are weighty issues when it comes to a BEAR defense gun.

I'd say that penetration with the 357 is much better, nowadays.

The early FLs can't be compared to what's available today.

Hangun enthusiasts, have proven the worth of Hard Cast bullets in beeg bore handguns, and even the 357.

When I was a farm kid we just rinsed the pigs with water. We couldn't afford Hog Wash.

I am much stronger and harder to take down than other humans were in the 1970s. Since I was a small child, I have taken special cobalt-thorium-G tablets. Now the .357 won't work on me. Dr. Strangelove taught me this.

What you really need is a faster twist barrel to get the bullet rpm up so it kills better.

Or maybe a smoothbore fin-stabilized .357 deleted-plutonium core bullet. That would not only kill a bear, but might even take out a Soviet T-80, or even a small Chinese village.

We've been breaking record cold temps until a few days ago. We had over 2 weeks of 35-40 below before Thanksgiving. Yup, this is gonna be a long one...

It took me 2 hours 15 min. to snow blow the driveway tonight. By the time I was done, there was another 2" back at the beginning. I just walked out because the roof shead, make that another 4".
