    Default Where to shoot guns

I was wondering if I could get some recommendations on where I could bring my kids to shoot guns. I live in Anchorage, but don't like the cost or idea of real shooting ranges. It would be nice to have a couple areas south and north to go to, when we are traveling about. I would rather drive to Turnagain pass to shoot, rather than the range, but there must be spots closer... Thanks

the search function is your friend. Plus the shooting forum has more info than the hunting forum.

I don't know what you drive, but you could probably save money by shooting at the ranges vs. fuel to get out of Anchorage. The bottom line is, if we don't support the ranges they will disappear.

Sutton is my favorite spot but I agree with AKDoug. As inconvenient as the range is (compared to doing it your way, your schedule, some place), they are massively important to have around. I carry an anual pass for the Rabbit Creek Range. PM me if you want a great spot in Sutton.
