    Default PWS Deer

My friends and I went for a cruise in the knight island area and we got these today-

Saw LOTS of deer, we are now tagged out but we could have easily filled all 15 of our tags today if we had waited. Almost every small beach had deer on it. Saw a bunch more bucks but couldn't get decent shots on them or they were too small.

Nicely done, Hank! That one on the right is among the nicer deer I've seen come out of the Sound. Congratulations!

Nice looking bucks. What was the weather like out there? Average temps? Thinking about making a run for it next week.

Nice looking bucks! I love the way the blacktail have that stocky body and neck. Just a cool/tasty looking animal. I haven't shot one of those since I was 11. That was way too long ago. Maybe someday I will get back out there and shoot another.

Must be a good year for deer in PWS. The snow must be driving them down onto the beaches. Might need to put the batteries back in the boat and give it a try before the end of the season.

Were they finished with the rut? How was the meat?

They were rutting hard. The meat was good though.

I got my boat batteries on standby, thinking of heading out friday out of whittier.. Just keeping an eye on the storm, weather, seas, etc.. Anyone else have the itch to get out?

I'm planning on heading out Monday around noon if the storm settle down by then. I'll be in a blue 26' Hewes Alaskan with no name yet. I'll be sporting my AOD flag though.

Been very interested in doing some deer hunting. I can go on weekends if anybody needs an extra hunter for manpower and help pay gas.

Have you guys ever had any problems towing your boats on these roads?

Nah. I've towed mine to work the past couple weekends to do some work on it lately. It's nice having a big fire station with an empty bay to park it for the day. No issues on the road, but you have to be cautios in town with the red lights is all. On the highway, its no problem. I gues it's no different than a really big loaded down snow machine trailer.

Gotcha, guessing your boat weights about 8,000 pounds loaded and wet?

I haven't weighed it yet but I was thinking around 6500 or so. I know the cummins knows its there but doesn't care much at all.
