    Default DIY 'Bou Mount

After this years successful Tier 1 hunt, passing a beautiful cape along to Hunt_Ak, which he so kindly sent me the wrapped canvas print of me and the 'bou in the mountains, I finished up my Antler Mount. This is my first attempt and i think it turned out pretty good.
I carved the wood out of 3/4" cabinet grade plywood using a scroll saw, used a Cherry stain, 3 coats of poly and painted the sides and back satin black. I ordered a antler mount from Van Dyke's and found some black felt at a local craft store. I decided to bypass the braided cord they sell for the kits and braided 550' cord we have at work.

I like it, very nice! The Alaska shaped plaque and the canvas picture is a nice touch.

Looks very nice and good on ya for sharing your cape. Looks lonely on that big wall all by itself, plenty of room for that dandy Ram.

You did a great job and I like the idea of 550 cord instead of leather or rope!

Great looking mount. The plaque gives it something special.

Cool idea, Craig. Take long on the scroll saw? Too bad we don't live in CO, that's a tablesaw job!

Shoulder mount is due to be done by Christmas...I'm excited to see how its going to turn out. BTW, figure out how to get that camera of yours to take larger pics!

Thanks fellas. It will bring alot of great memories when the rest of the critters accompany Mr. Bou in the room.

Scroll saw wasn't too bad. took some patience but it was fun. I really enjoy woodwork.
Thanks again for the pic, Kyle.
