Default Quartz Report -34 Arctic Bowl

Gutleap, Alcanron, and Jedi braved the -34 arctic bowl at Quartz Lake today. Fishing was on and off. We managed a total of 8 fish today with Gutleap catching the 2 biggest. I have a picture of the landlock Chinook he caught and the 21 inch Rainbow will be posted later. We were the only group out on the lake today. Notice the heaters. We were quite warm. Next week it is game on at Harding. This is twice I have been out there in the last seven days and nobody has been there.

Default Hard core professionals or idiots??

Now who in their right mind would go ice fishing at -34? Well, we would. Alcanron, JediMasterSalmonSlayer and myself decided it was a great day to be out on Quartz. As Ron said, I caught a few nice ones with the rainbow measuring in at 21". The land locked king salmon was the first I had caught out of Quartz. An interesting fish. Ice thickness was 10 inches. We thought it would have been thicker than that with all the cold weather the past week.

Here is a little video of todays events. Not alot of action but at least we were nice and toasty inside the QF6.

That is an interesting fish! And if I had that bank of heaters I'd be out there, too. The benefits to being hard headed/hard core include having the whole place to yourselves! Great report......you're an inspiration to slackers like me.
