are the valley streams still fishable or is it too late? if its too late, where can i go tomorrow? heard kenai is going to be pretty much flooded and i don't have a boat so thats out of the question for me.

This year I fished as late as Oct 7 and did well (there were even large trout feeding up top on small mayflies). But my experience is that the fish drop out of the small streams once the first hard freeze or two happens. I think at this point all the fish are gonna be stacked up in the Big Su for the winter. Not to say there aren't still a few fish in some of the deeper holes though. There's only one way to find out...

You can still fish the big su and the talkeetna proper. It is different from your normal valley fishing for sure. But it can be done.

If you can two-hand, these are still good options.

So what's the deal with fishing the Big Su this time of year? Are they in the sloughs? The deep runs?

Bummer, not what I wanted to hear. I was hoping to get out one more time.
