That's the classic question (it really did happen, once that I know) for a tourist to ask while on the Alaska Railroad, cruising along Turnagain Arm.

I gotta think that they're thinkin' that because they're clear up in Alaska, they must be at a very high elevation.

"How much does Mt. McKinley weigh?" Yes... it was a real question.

Another from the Great Alaska Sportsman Show... used to get this one every year from a friend who had a booth there, selling inflatable boats:

Tire kicker: "How much does that raft weigh?"
Salesman: "This boat weighs 135 lbs."
Tire kicker: "Uhhh... how much does it weigh with the air in it?"
Salesman: "Excellent question. The boat takes 3.5 pounds per square inch of air pressure, so if you multiply that out, a smart guy like you can easily see why we usually deflate them before we fly out. It saves a ton of weight in the aircraft."
