Also worth mentioning is the Sportsman Show in Puyallup,WA Jan.25-Jan.29 2012 These are both great events to go to. I've checked plane tickets, hotel/motel rooms, and car rentals. Round trip plane from Anchorage to Seattle on Alaska Air is $496.00 right now. Motels range from $35.00 to over $200.00 depending on what class you want to stay in, and the ones close to the airport seem the cheapest. I found Hertz rental car to have the cheapest rates. A person could go possibly save booking a hotel-car package.

We just visited Seattle and used the new Link train from SeaTac to downtown. Fare is $2.75, which is a real deal and takes about 30 minutes to downtown. They run evey 7-15 minutes so the wait is reasonable. You don't need a car in downtown either as the buses have a free zone. If you need a car after the boat show, head back to SeaTac on the Link to avoid the outrageous parking charges.
