    Default Perfect pair for alaska

    375 Ultra mag
    Remington 700 Action
Shilen 375 barrel 24" with vias brake
    High Tech specialties stock
Ziess 3-9 conquest in warne QD rings
    7 lbs 10 oz
    270gr TSX @ 3050fps

    300 Ultra mag
Remington 700 action trimmed down to reduce weight
    Factory remington 26" barrel, fluted
Leupold 3.5-10 VXIII Illuminated 30mm in talley lightweights
    7lbs 11oz
    168gr TSX @ 3340fps

Finally have my alaskan big game battery completed. I wanted these two as closely matched as possible. The biggest difference between the two being the sights and muzzle brake on the 375. I had avoided the brake on the 375 originally but when fired with the scope off it was a little too "peppy" being around 6.5 pounds.

I also put a small piece of rail on the forearm of the 375 to mount a light to and credit it with stopping a brown bear charge this spring.

Nice pair - I think you are ready for action...
When asked what state I live in I say "The State of Confusion", better known as IL....

I've just got a couple boring CZ square bridge Mausers with blued metal and wooden stocks in plain 'ol .30-'06 and .375 H&H. None of the critters have complained yet, though. Maybe someday I can get some "real" Alaskan rifles.
