    Default .350 Remington Magnum

I have a long throated 20" .350 magnum Encore barrel with a muzzle break that I need to find an "all round" round for. I figure on bears, elk, moose and the occasional deer. I think the 225 grain Speer to be the best all round bullet. I have 6-7 pounds of IMR 4064, new brass and tons of .35 caliber bullets (180, 200, 220, 225, 250 and some pistol bullets). I already load for the .35 Whelen. I am thinking of 300 yards as a maximun range.

I haven"t kept up on the newest powders out there on the market. Is IMR4064 going to be about the best all round powder with that short of barrel. (I also use it in the .35 Whelen, .308, 7mm/08)

    Thanks guys.

My ruger 350 rem mag likes 59gr of varget under the 225 sierra.

Kinda nice to complete your loadwork on your first trip to the range with a new rifle
Those that are successful in Alaska are those who are flexible, and allow the reality of life in Alaska to shape their dreams, vs. trying to force their dreams on the reality of Alaska.

If you have a tenuous grasp of reality, Alaska is not for you.

56.0 of IMR 4320 with the Speer 250gr SP in my Rem 600 for years

And IMR 4064 at 56.0 with 200gr hornady SP

Both with 210 M primers in RP cases

I would suggest alliant's mr-2000. It's like a dense reloader 15 because it supposedly gives less pressure but more velocity. It would be just about right for the 350 rem mag case with an agenda on maximum case capacity and velocity.

This is a Bullberry barrel and someone had it made up special. I put in a case with a bullet and closed the action to see how long I can load this thing hoping for more case capacity. Backing off .010 from the lands I can place 225 grain bullets just in the neck of the case. She is really going to be a little powerhouse with the case capacity.

I just tried some TAC powder in my Rem 700 24" with the Sierra 225 and have found my load. 60grs gives 2775fps and 61grs gives just a smidge over 2800fps. Accuracy was between 1/2" and 5/8" for both loads with no pressure signs. As always, work up from 2 or three grs under as this load may not be safe in your rifle. I'm pretty sure it would group better if I could hold tighter.

Accurate 2015 powder shows 2800+ fps with 225 grainers in the Barnes manual.
