    Default Trim tab advice

    Hi all,

I bought a 1978 Sylvan 18' Deep V offshore aluminum boat. I was wondering if a product like this will help in making my new boat come to plane faster:

    http://www.overtons.com/modperl/prod...2&merchID=4006

I will be running a 50 hp Evinrude on it for the time being. Thanks in advance for the advice.....

The simple answer is yes they will....do you already have a fin like this already on there...............http://www.overtons.com/modperl/prod...ID=1006&r=view. If not it maybe the trick for a smaller boat/motor like yours and half the price.

I am sure it would, though I have no experience with that product. On the first boat I owned and ran exclusively in the salt, a 17' inflatable with a 55hp outboard I installed a Dolefin, the performance increase was eyeopening both in getting on step and turning, it felt like it was on a rail. I would imagine that these would perform at least as well with what appears to be a greater overall surface area. At the price they want for those I am inclined to get a pair for my jet boat, I would however keep spare pins or stainless bolts and nyloc nuts for the hinging locations. Also, since they are purely manual one would need to remember to adjust them up for times of running light in order to save on fuel economy, handling and performance may serve as a reminder though.
