Default Big Lake launch and Big Boats

    Hi All,

Just curious if anyone has ever launched their ocean boats on big lake. Thinking of taking my GC there to do initial couple of low RPM hours for break in if the roads and ice are holding off when I tow it home. I just wasn't sure if the launch is typically deep enough to do it. Any info or experience doing this would be helpful.

    Thanks!

I've been out there with a friend in his boat. Water is water, works fine. Launch off Berkshore on the north side.

Yeah, I've done it, no problem at all.

    Thumbs up Good!

I launched out of Southport to do some motor testing. The room between their shop and the launch is not good if a vehicle is in front of their shop or fenced yard, can't get straight easy or turn around. Launching is fine, but the angle is odd and putting it back on the trailer was tricky. Parking is great, the fee is peanuts, and it was deserted every time I went. I suggest going with someone who knows the lake, as there are sections that are only three feet deep for many many acres of open water, don't want to get in those areas. Other than that I enjoyed it and wouldn't mind going back for a picnic and a diving contest off the roof!

I used to do my first trip out of the season there with a 22' Bayliner with about 2 feet of draw. Never had a problem until all the PWC folks started using the ramp as a parking area. It just got too crowded, but it was a nice first run for a while.
