Default 83" Moose from Brooks Range?

Heard a rumor that an 83" bull was taken in the Brooks Range. Unable to fly out the rack the rumor says they will hike in and bring it out on a sled. Anyone have more information? Photos would really be nice!

Probably in the valley below where the 46 inch sheep was shot. I don't doubt anything anymore.

I heard they were flying in an engine and rudders to strap to it and fly itself out.

Just got another report on this. Apparently they got a 31" grizzly and 550 B&C caribou on the same hunt. Pics are pending.

I seen a bull moose way up the Ivishak last year caribou hunting I would honestly say was well over 70. We were floating around 11pm in early August and came around the corner and the thing looked like he had a tree on his head. Totally amazing sight. By far my biggest bull I have ever seen. I beleive someone probably did shoot a bull that big.

We were down at Knights and saw a guy bring in a 68"er. A fine one too, great palms, awesome paddles, tines, points, color, all of it. Some New Yorker on his first danged hunt bagged it. I swear, that guy ought to go buy a lottery ticket....

I flew back from Alaska on 9-25 and was told there was a 68" on the plane; I flew into Chicago a.k.a. (edited) of America. I also sat next to a pilot I believe he said he flew for Pen air out of Anchorage that said a pilot buddy of his called and said there was a 83" shot in the Brooks range. I can't prove any of this that was the stories being told though.

I have also seen the widest moose antlers of my life in the Brooks Range. He was pushing 70". We looked at him a while through binocs and were stunned at the width of those antlers. Then he caught wind of us and was gone, I suspect he died of old age.

Mattsand, thanks for being serious about this. Time will tell. I would appreciate more folks being serious.

Don't take it personally - it's just that such moose are exceedingly rare, thus it is awfully hard to believe without some verifiable proof. In the meantime, mentioning a rumor of a 83" moose is akin to mentioning a rumor of a 50" sheep. Possible? Maaaaybe. Probable? Not likely. That being said, I hope I'm wrong. I'd love to see pictures of that beast.

I've got a 70" bull and have seen one that was 75". Those are the biggest moose I've ever seen.
