Default Moose in the King Salmon Area?

I've lived in South Naknek for half of my childhood yet, I never recall seeing any moose around the area. I know of moose being in Dillingham. Yet growing up in that area I can't remember seeing any bulls nor cows in King Salmon, Naknek, or S. Naknek. Have any of you?

Not known for densities but there are some beauties taken there every year.

I live in King Salmon and hunt moose within 50 miles of town every year. The population is usually described in official documents as 'low-density but stable.' In my experience, if you put in enough time, you'll find moose. But I usually allocate at least 7 days to a moose hunt if I want to have a decent shot at success.

I agree with Troy in that you have to put the time and effort in, but you will find them. I too live in King Salmon / Naknek and have taken several in the short 5 hunting seasons I have hunted out here. I would definitely say low density though.

There are lots of locals here who refer to all the spruce as pine trees...took me a few years to stop twitching when I heard it...but I'm over that now...

Yeah, I know I was just kidding him. Pine is sometimes generic for conifer, just like when I was a kid, "honda" was generic for any small, imported motorcycle.

Well it's been talked about for couple years and now for 2016 I am coming back to Bristol bay for moose. As of now the plan is to fly into Dillingham and hunt that area. Most popular seems to be the Nushagak. Much luck in the areas?

In the years I worked out there I never saw one moose whatsoever……..doesn't mean they aren't there, but I think you will earn any moose you get.
