Default Glock 20 and Double Tap 200grn Hard Cast

I am wondeirng what you carry for your bear load with your G20. I know my .454 is a better choice but i carry my Glock as well. Have any of you shot DT 200grn lead in your Glock? I have heard lead in a glock is a no no. I would not shoot it except when i need to in SD with an animal with an attitude problem.

I do not own a G20, but I have heard and seen (Hicko45 on youtube) that with a standard barrel the heavier (200 and up) DTs do not stablise and tumble with a G20 standard barrel. Aftermarket barrel (Lone Wolf etc) and you are in business.

I have an EAA witness in 10mm and handlaod heavy 10mm (220Gr with 6.9Gr IMR 800X) and they are very accurate.

Not sure if you handload, but it is the way to go for getting the right mix for your G20. Friendswood bullets do 220gr for very good price (500 for around $55 shipped) and good brass in quantity is available from scharch engineering.

nbh40 has it right...the Glock barrel isn`t the most accurate with hardcast ammo. I have a 5" ported barrel (G29) just for the cast DT ammo. I run 230gr but also have the 200gr flavor in the box. Side note...I have seen no lead fouling with the Glock barrel using hardcast but then again I`ve never run more than 30 rounds at any given time....they get expensive.

Mike at Double Tap test his ammo in a Glock 20.

No issues with hard cast in mine, but interested to hear more about the subject. I researched it last year and recall there is no problem as long as you clean the gun as you should anyway. The 230 gr DT would not work reliably in my G20. 3-4 FTF out of 200 rounds. Issue was light primer strikes and Mike was confused by it, as was I. He was cool and sent me a free box of 200 gr. I switched to the 200 gr and have had no issues at all. 20# spring and stainless rod were the only mods to the gun. Looking to put the XS sights on it next week. Sweet set up and night sights to boot.

Check out the XS Sights. Got the ghost ring they offer with wings on my guide gun. Awesome stuff. Just looking around for some new night sights for my Glock 20 and found something on that website I like.

Buffalo Bore has an article about shooting their hardcast in a polygonal barrel like the Glock:

Instead of being concerned of what you can or cannot shoot in your G20 barrel, why don't you just get the LW barrel and shoot whatever you want with the confidence that the barrel will be fine with whatever you feed it? I have the LW barrel in my G20 and I shoot anything I want to, but primarily the lead hard-cast. Take your doubt/concerns out of the equation and never look back.

Enjoy your Glock, it's a great handgun and the 10mm is a great cartridge.

These 10mm hard cast are what I received from Double Tap 5 years ago. I can only assume that their quality has improved or they would be out of business by now. I don't know how these could have gotten out the door.

Did you contact DT and inquire as to way the poor quality on this box of ammo? I have seen better bullets at local gun shows!

Wow, I am very surprised. I use Underwood and have been very pleased with it in my Glock 40 MOS.
