Smile Any good fishing in Nome?

Headed up to Nome 10/10/11 for work for a couple of weeks. Never been there before but I'm bringing a rod and looking for a place to fish. Are there any creeks or rivers with grayling or char and can I drive to? Any comments would help; Thank you

Gets pretty nipply in Nome by mid Oct. Try fishing along the Nome River for dollies. Several spots along this river are easy access to the road and it will be obvious when opportunity arises. Fish the mouth of the Nome River (at ocean) for incoming straggling silvers. Drive north on the Nome-Teller road and fish for grayling beneath and near the Sinuk River bridge. Drive south to Council for a scenic drive and some fishing spots here and there you will pass. Take the road to the Kuzitrin River bridge and try it as well. Very nice country. Polar Cafe is a good breakfast joint. Aurora Inn (nicest motel) rents nicest cars/trucks. For bars, The Polaris has best pool tables and The Anchor is a good place just to drink. I don't recommend Board of Trade.
