Default 24 days, 2 rivers, tons of fun.

Finally got (most of) the pics downloaded, and thought I'd get this report rolling.

I flew out Sept 22 to Dillingham where I loaded up a portion of the gear needed for the upcoming set of floats and then boarded a Beaver for the flight to the headwaters of our first river.

Once there I got one of the tents up and began assembling the rafts in anticipation of the arrival of the rest of the crew in 2 days.

Spending time alone "out there" don't suck, to be sure.

After an evening of intense discussion with a sow and her cubs about temporary ownership of the particular beach I was camped on, the next morning dawned and the gang began to arrive for the first leg of the float.

We hadn't gotten very far before the locals began to arrive to welcome us....

    And some more visitors....

This was my FAVORITE photo of the trip, as far as bears go....

Tho' this one rates as well.

A few more bears. Some days we counted over 70 different ones as we floated.

Found a few Ghosts of the Past. Always a kick to get up in the sticks and explore.

3 weeks plus a few days later it was time to pack up, load into the planes and get back to pavement and cocktails.

A good time was had by all.

Hippie Thanks for sharing the great photos of your time out there.Since today is Sept 20 I'm guessing you went out Aug 22 not Sept 22.

It's steelhead season. It was nice to be in the front seat for a few days of fishing after the trip, though I still rowed most of the time.

    Fish on!

Oh, the new custom St. Croix was here when I got home. Not a bad tip.

    Front seat?

Oh you mean that spot in front of me usually separated by a mountain of gear?

    Congrats on the new rod.

    Good folks to be sure.

good to see the fish fattening up, they were skinny skinny skinny earlier this year... To bad the lodges don't understand that not pinching barbs leads to ugly fish...
I choose to fly fish, not because its easy, but because its hard.
