    Default Koyukuk check in confusion??

Check in for the Koyukuk moose hunt used to be Ella's cabin. Online at F&G's web site it states the check in is Ella's cabin as well:

"all hunters on the Koyukuk River passing the department's check station at Ella's Cabin (15 miles upstream from the Yukon on
the Koyukuk River) are required to stop at the check station and report to department personnel"

But reading the F&S regs (page 102) it states the check in will be in Huslia or Hughes.

Anyone know for sure where check in is for this year? Was going to make a run to F&G tomorrow but trying to save a 50 mile drive.

    Thanks

It's either or. If you are flying in to one of the other communities or live in that area north of Galena you can check in at either Huslia or Hughes but if you are boating in from the south side you will need to stop at Ella's cabin. This saves the locals a long day trip to either place to register. Good luck.

Check in is at Ellas. Huslia and Hughes are for the folks coming in from the north.

Thanks guys. Never gave any thought to hunters coming from the north. Brain fart on my part.

Side note, reading the regs again and noticed a change. No longer required to carry out the intact backs and necks. Nice to know we can bone out the steaks and necks. Saves for some heavy packing.

The check in was just below Ella's on the same side of the river last year. Much better set up now and you can't miss it. Had something to do with the change in ownership of Ella's and increased rent.

The check station at Ella's cabin.

Nice pics and thanks. Lots of space to tie up the tubs and no back eddy to crash them together.
