Anyone looking for a full featured point and shoot for backpacking or hunting should take a look at the cannon s95 (love it so far) it has a larger sensor than others of the same physical size, and many of the features of a full size DSLR, and a fast lens. The features i use the most (just like my DSLR) are
    Program and aperture priority
    manual selection of ISO
    exposure lock
    exposure compensation
selective use of flash and flash compensation
detailed review after each shot (histogram, etc)
    selective white balance
    shoots RAW(but i shoot JPEG)

HDR built in is kinda cool(but im not a fan of HDR)
    Nostalgia mode is cool
vivid mode is too vivid for me
    macro is good
Cons-short battery life, feels like a bar of soap in my hands ( this is my first P&S camera)
many detailed reviews online, but now i have a camera with me at all times-and thats a good thing
