Default Opening up Chugiak to Brown Bear.

In this morning's paper while reading about opening up chugiak state park to wolverine trapping i caught a small blerb about opening chugiak state park to brown/grizzly bear hunting. Has anyone heard any more about this?

    Default Chugiak/Chugach

there is no chugiak state park - chugiak is a town (berg, hamlet, village, you know).
the article was about hunting/trapping in the Chugach State Park.
Just wanted to clear that up - I don't believe Chugiak is in the park.

If the ADN was correct, we're looking at a draw for only a couple of tags...but hey, its a start!

    Default I'll just listen...

to KTUU tonight. If they open with a breaking story about "new threats to the survival of the brown bear in SouthCentral" I'll know it is true. :-)
BrnBr - You shouldn't have mentioned that! It will be the only drainage not open - and you will draw a tag!

There is a faster way off the mountain, might hurt a little though.

Its about time! There are way way to many bears in the eagle river valley.
I choose to fly fish, not because its easy, but because its hard.

I didn't think anyone else knew about this proposal but me, guess a few others were paying attention too!! I know i'm putting in for it, I know where there's a few mighty big brown bears, saw an absolute monster last spring, he was so bug his belly was dragging on the ground and he looked huge in the spotting scope. Hopefully they will open that area and i'll get a tag. Be nice to shoot a brownie less than 30 minutes from the house.
