    Default confluence cleaning table video

Here's an underwater video that i shot at the confluence of the kenai, when someone was cleaning some fish. After someone would throw the carcasses or guts in the water, it would just boil with activity. I couldn't really see the fish until i used the camera and was amazed at them all lined up at the feeding troth.

very cool! that one takes some good chunks.
I just got myself a underwater camera and found it a little hard to stick it down into the water the first time. I did get a pretty cool short on the russian the other day. Never did video before on here so not sure about posting that.

Tie on a flesh fly and have at 'em! Saw the same thing up at the falls marker a few weeks ago. Had to be 60 bows boiling like sharks when flesh was thrown in.

Awesome video! A buddy of mine told me you are not allowed to fish for bows at this spot. Is this true?

You can't fish there early in the season. It opens July 15 or something like that. The ADF&G book lists the proper date.

Jun 11th the russian and upper opens, the confluence opens 15th of july normally, if I am right that cleaning table is in an area closed to fishing year round (by the ferry crossing).

If you are right, I break the law every time I float the upper in the fall. There is nothing prohibiting fishing there in the regs. I can't remember the date that it opens but July 15 sounds right.

Well I could be wrong, it might not be closed year round, but I am pretty sure it is right next to the ferry (up stream a bit) and I have seen signs there may times saying you can't fish there, now in the fall when the ferry is closed you might be able to, but in summer as far as I know it is closed. Now with that being said it could be a different cleaning table, and if so, what I have said would be a mute point.

When the Sanctuary opens, you can fish all through there from a boat and on shore. I think where bowfan is talking about is closed between the signs for bank fishing only. That is about 50 yds up and down stream of the ferry.

I think you break the law everytime you step in a boat.

I can neither confirm nor deny that statement.

This was taken right at the confluence of the russian and the Kenai. Its definitely legal to fish when the sanctuary opens, but its kinda mope fishing if you ask me. i like to see the fish mashing carcasses, but when they are in a frenzy like that, it doesn't take much to catch them. not saying I have never done this, but I don't prefer it and try not to. both banks (sportsmans side and russian side)are really productive anyway so its often not needed.

I am not against the flippin kenai, since I cannot but suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering every other stream... ~Paul O'Neil~/~Wyo2AK~
