Thread: Trailer Advice Requested

    Default Trailer Advice Requested

I have a 19' soft-top Searunner (aluminum) that needs a bigger trailer. For those familiar with the Hewes boats, would you recommend a single or tandem axle trailer for this size boat?

Thumbs up One is good, Two is always better!

A good single axle would probably carry the load, personally I hate single axle trailers! They seem to get flats at the most inopportune moments i.e. the Whittier Tunnel.

Before you do anything you need to find out the gross weight of your boat including the fuel, motor(s), batteries, fishing gear etc. Then find a trailer that can carry 20% more.
Personally I would choose a dual axle trailer as they seem to track better.

I have owned a 17 & 18 ' & currently have a 22' hewescraft. A single axle trailer will carry the load, but a tandem axle trailer will definitely handle better.
