    Smile Sitka - Flyfishing

    Hello all,

I'll be up in Alaska next week, never been but looking forward to seeing everything. I'll be in port in Sitka for a full day, was wondering if it would be worth it to bring my rod up and hit the Sitka river. From what the reports look like, it says Coho are running good right now. I was just going to head up the river about 5-7 miles and check it out. Any info, would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Smile Bring your gun too...

Indian River is a good place for rainbows, dollies and brown bears... If you have a facebook account, do a search for Sitka Bear Report for recent bear activity.

I fished there the first week of september a few years ago. I think I was on the indian river, below the highway. It was thick with pinks and chum when I was there. Dollies were cruising the salt too but I didn't fish for them at all.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I won't be able to bring a sidearm. Sounds like I will def. be bringing my rod.
