    Default $6.99 a pound!

I thought I had seen it all until yesterday. Albertson's in Sarasota, Florida put out King crab at $6.99. It was the first time I have seen this product come in under $9.99 retail. It was tagged "Russian Crab" and the size was large.

    Unbelievable!

By the way, never imerse pre-cooked crab in steaming water. Simply wrap them in a wet towel and nuke them in a baking dish. This is a perfect method.
You can do the same with raw shrimp with shell on...

    Default halibut prices

They will only come down with aquaculture.

This is already being done in Northern Europe with sole.

It is only a matter of time.

If I was guiding any young person into a career related to marine science, that would be the direction I would send them. Otherwise I would advise them to become a broker and link the retailer.

Hardworking Joe Fisherman has it touger than all of us, and has my complete admiration in just being able to stay afloat.

Yet the Russian crab is a wild product. I am overwhelmed to see this...

The barent sea (russian) crab was seeded. Kinda like PWS salmon aquaculture. And I would NEVER tell someone to go into fish farming....it is a bad deal all around....how about we just get people to correctly manage the worlds oceans and we'd have enough fish without the crutch of "farms". They are just another cop-out to keep screwing up the ecosystems.

gone are the days a man could go to dutch harbor and risk his life to make in a week what many make in a year, so sad.
