Default Charged by a sow with 4 cubs

My daughter and I took a new trail back to the cabin tonight. Ran into the sow, she clacked her teeth and crashed through the brush huffing and grunting. We backtracked and took the old trail, but we were running out of shooting light. We were blessed with her presence again as she hoooked around. This time she came at us full tilt! Cubs climbing trees and she stopped 100' and stood up. I yelled and after a few seconds of huffing she did a 180. Almost too dark to shoot. We will see what tomorrow will bring.

4 cubs....Black Bear? Sounds like a Rush, both by the Bear and your adrenalin system.

Glad you and yours are OK!

I don't mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out.

Got trail cam pics. We knew they were around, sure would be nice to qualify for subsistance for moose so we could hunt without the thrill.

I saw a brown bear with 4 cubs along the Litle Su just north of Big Lake last year when flying over the area.

Imagine running into her when the cubs are 2.5-3 yr olds...it'd be a whole herd of bears.

By legal definition a brown bear over 2 years old is NOT a cub. Legal to shoot.

Well here we were up in the stand looking for moose. This little black bear pops out and runs up to the stand and climbs the tree! Didnt shoot it cause we need a moose. He was 3' from me and my daughter she took the picture.black bear.jpg
