Default Secret to seeing NO moose

Apparently having a tag for just about any moose is the secret to seeing no moose at all! After 20 years of trying to draw a cow tag in our local moose spot my cousin finally pulled one this year and the results is 0 moose spotted the first week of season in an area that we routinely see 5-10 cows, calves and tweener bulls a day.... It's almost like they KNOW we have that tag!!

Well it's still early so I am sure we will put it together but man is this WEIRD!

    LuJon:

I hope these words don't come back to bite you:

"I honestly have to say, I cannot fathom being unable to connect on a valley cow tag in less than three full days hunting at any time of year."

Believe me I have been reflecting on that post! We honestly only were able to get out a after work yesterday and 1/2 day on Sunday but that is usually plenty in this spot to see several moose. I am betting it is just the hotter days but it still seems a little weird!

A lot to do with weather, here in North Pole first day of season was super windy- zero seen. Next two days weather was great, seen multiple moose, and took mine the thrid day. I seen where farther south the weather was still not cooperating like a good fall hunt.
Good Luck, and post photos when you all connect. (Yeah, I know I ain't got my photos on yet. dang it)

I've seen plenty of cows, of course I'm looking for a legal bull. I know the pain though. Just got back from an "over populated" moose area carrying a cow tag and came back empty handed. I did see some, just couldn't connect...

I was told by a guy that hunt the same area you do that he saw several cows about a week ago.

The Tag is DM407 good from Wasilla Fishhook all the way to Chickaloon. Were it the Big Lake tag we could have filled it the opening afternoon with a cow staring us down at about 50 feet by my cousins house.

I blame commercial fishermen for your lack of seeing a cow. Possibly global warming as well. Or maybe... it is just Bush's fault.

Funny my cousin didn't want to go to the spot I wanted to sit on so these got shot with my samsung instead of his Winchester.

Not the biggest but they would have tasted great!

You're not wearing the Seattle Sombrero are you? Might need to pull out the "puffy suit" instead.

I'm sure you'll connect. You should have some good karma coming your way.

I feel your pain. My daughter drew the Pt. Mak youth cow tag a couple years ago. I think we saw 5 bulls during the 5 days of early season the kids get and no cows. Couldn't find a cow to save our lives. We hunted on foot, we hunted from wheelers, we even road hunted. I now know every nook and cranny down there and still didn't connect.

Thats the luck of the draw so to speak. Last year, I hunted 25 days and never had an opportunity to harvest a legal bull. Although I did put a buddy on a 3 tiner.

This year, I've half heartedly hunted a total of 4 evenings and have seen two legal bulls. One made a VERY lucky decision on opening day (zigged when I decided to zag).... and the other one is hanging in the meat shed...again, my hunting partner took the honors. I need to get a partner with less karma...lol
