I heard they get paid $1500 to haul them off.

Talkeetna trooper post. 42 3/4" Also another small two year old paddle bull in the bed of the truck. Bigger moose was an oops and they turned themselves in. Small bull wasn't an oops and they tried to hide it. Guess who's is in more trouble Read the dispatches for the next few days and you can find out more.

I passed on a smaller bull during archery season as I been watching a BRUISER it had 3 brow tines "BUT" still in velvet and growing and were not very defined yet and did not want to end up in the Trooper log I know he was not 50 so let him walk and have not seen him since rifle opened

i would rather just not shoot unless the brow tines are there, i dont know how ppl can judge 50" from such a distance without being somewhat unsure. unless it is obviously very large

I heard from a trooper last year there were roughly a dozen illegal bulls shot between the talkeetna cutoff and Talkeetna. Some people...

Speaking of boring stuff in those dispatches (8/29) there was a sub legal bull shot in Mud Lake on 8/26 and left to rot. It was found in a swamp on the side of Mud Lake. Having duck hunted out there for years I can say that there are only about four spots that I would ever consider shooting a moose at. If the moose is not standing next to a spruce tree and you have enough water to run a boat up to it, don't pull the trigger. I wonder how close the guy came to dying in the muck before he gave up trying to get the poached moose out?

Whomever tipped the troopers off also appears to have given them the name of the guy that shot it. Who would think in a 50 and 3 area that a 31 inch moose with two tines per side was legal? The largest bulls I have ever seen while duck hunting out there were about 40 inches but never had more than two brow tines.

Also appears that the Sutton area did have some bull moose in it, but they were all sub legal and are now dead.

There were a couple, nowhere near a dozen. Maybe in Trooper Valentines whole area, which includes Petersville and 40 miles of the Parks Hwy.
