Nope. BTW I said co-worker. The only work know to most of the meth heads I have run across is stealing garmins out of parked cars.

Ive heard they can push pretty far up. I was watching a show on discovery a week or so ago that said they had had reports of them in the northern part of the state going as far as 7 miles or so. I would assume it just depends on water depth since they breath air.

I have personally seen them swim past the Knik bridge in mid to late October. I was shocked, but it was awesome to see, they were coming up on a high tide right as the sun went down.

I was there with a couple buddies, we had just got done duck hunting, we were at the kink river access right next to the bridge. It was out last day duck hunting for the season so it was mid-October. There were 6 or so beluga's and they went under the bridge and kept going. It was probably 4 or 5 years ago.

That was origin of my question: Yesterday there were four that breached at the same time up Six-Mile Creek, They scared the poop out of me. I was watching the bears and seals, then these guys slobbered about 20 feet away.

I don't mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out.

They have been known to go up to Lake Illiamna.
One wandered way up the Yukon into the interior some years ago. It was in the news.

But anyway, there are no more belugas in the Cook Inlet drainage. It is all a figment of your imagination.

I've seen them 6 miles up the yentna and have even heard of as far as lake creek also this was in the early 90's. Sometimes also you will find spotted harbor seals as far up as Skwentna during peak red salmon runs. In the late 70's they even had them chasing fish in the Deshka. here is some great but older study info on beluga whales: http://spo.nwr.noaa.gov/mfr623/mfr6237.pdf

I also saw a pod of belugas in the Knik River between the Glenn Highway bridges and the railroad bridge upstream about 4 or 5 years ago. It was September. I also saw a pod of belugas at least two miles up the Twentymile River in Portage in September of 2005.
