    Default Galena Bay Lagoon (Valdez)

Hello all. I am thinking of overnighting in my boat in Galena Bay. Wondering if anyone has ever done it in that bay and more specifically, if it is possibe to take a boat into the Lagoon for an overnight. Any information you could share would be appriciated. By the way, I have a 22ft Hewescraft Searunner for this excursion.

    Thanks

I have spent a lot of time in that area and would not recommend an over nighter in the Lagoon. The entrance is very narrow, rock filled and the Lagoon gets almost dry during the low tide with only a very shallow area that holds water and ducks and no channel to reach that part on low tide, so if you get back there and the tide goes out you are stuck, trust me spent several hours waiting for the tide to come back to learn that lesson.

The main part is nice and you should be able to find a spot to drop the hook.

    Be safe and have fun.

The bay its self is very doable the family and I stayed in the bay a couple nights last year had a blast and caught several fish. Very beautiful country. Watch the tides and find a good spot to anchor and have a good time.
