    Default Fall Steelhead

I spent the last 7 years in Fairbanks and moved to Palmer in early June. I have been fishing every weekend and several nights a week (to my wife's dismay) to make up for lost time (Fairbanks fishing is limited). Now the summer is winding down and my freezers are full of salmon. Steelhead come to mind and looking for opinions as to the best spots (southern kenai pen.?) one can drive to catch steely dan.

I don't mess w/ those dinky catch a release fly fishing only creeks, no I get on a plane and fly to Lewiston and fish a real steelhead stream, the Clearwater. After oct 10th you can keep 2 per day, oh yeah the best part, you can use bait. To break the trip up We spend one day fishing the Snake where the Grand Rohn flows in, it's good for about 30 per day but they're cookie cutters compared to the B-run fish in the Clearwater. The cool thing about the Snake is you can have an Idaho, Oregon, Washington, or a Nez Pierce tribal fishing license, because where the Grand Rohn flows in it touches all 3 states

If you want to enjoy a cast and blast, head to POW. Great steelheading (assuming you don't mind a few boot miles) and you can harvest about 5000 deer a day.

Situk is a great place, but it is popular and a little crowded at times. Watch of for the "O Faces" LMAO!

    Fish On!

You know your not catching any fish when you start talking about the weather...

frankenfish, where u at? lets hook up n fish sometime! Danner, the above mentioned KP streams will produce fish, as well as the occasional crowd... the Situk and Italio are also good options, as well as POW Island. What kind of fishing experience are you looking for?

Just a heads up. I am not sure if you are aware or not, but taking a steelhead out of the water on Peninsula streams is prohibited.
