    Panther makes the only gear to gear counter rotator that I am aware of. It is the lightest CR gearbox and supposed to be bad to the bone. They will only sell it installed on a turn key boat. So unless you own a Panther you don't get to try it. If the 502/502 is a factory crate motor it will probably have some valve train issues around 200 hours or so. It would be worth calling the manufacturer to see what they did to the engine, if anything.

    If you take it for a test drive. Drive it like you stole it for a couple hours.

    I think his estimate of $75k new is a bit inflated.
    The price seems high for what he's offering.

    The question really is....What are you planning to do with the boat? Where will you be running it?
    What sort of loads are you going to carry, etc...
    Was the 502 built specifically for an airboat or a crate motor just dropped in w/no upgrades? Why is he selling it?

    If you have any questions about the motor or equipment I highly recommend you get in contact with Skip Olsen in Fairbanks.

    I no nothing about the boat in question;

    I do know airboats and there is so many problems that could cause you thousand of $$ in repair that you need to have a professional that knows airboats look at it. I would have Skip look at it and do a test run. It will cost you a few hundred, and could save you thousands.

    For an Alaska boat, you would get pretty cold in late season. Bud

    What I think of any boat depends a lot on the asking price, the description sounds good, I would like it for about $10k if everything is in good condition. Pic would be good. Bud
