Default Base to Install Windlass on Searunner

Hey all. I have a 220 Searunner and pulling Anchor even with a buoy just wears me out by days end. So I bought a windlass but need to have an aluminum base plate welded in to accommodate a pivoting bow roller, next comes a cleat to the anchor off to, then the windlass. My sea runner does not have enough bow for that. Thus the plate.

Has anyone already done this? I was thinking a machine shop could make something out of 3/4 aluminum and then have it welded.

    Suggestions?

I sure a welding shop could do it for you, also I would check with Hewes and compare their price with the local fab cost.

It bolts into place and can be removed to put the boat back to original.

This is the way I did mine. If I had to do it again I would go with the way Jonboat did his.

Looks very well done. Is that a Hewescraft mod or did you have it made?

I hardly come close to using 600' and barely fits in the hole, I can see the advantage of this mod with 1000'

This link is the thread that shows what I did, I used angle on the bottom side to stiffen where the capstan is instead of a plate but the plate would probably be better.
