Default Advice: Get your sheep sealed before posting of successful hunt

Absolutely love the sheep hunt stories and pics, looking fwd to many more of them, but wanted to advise all successful sheep hunters to have your sheep sealed before posting of successful hunts here.

Good luck all and stay safe in the field,

Why seal before sharing pics; is there a regulation I don't know about?

Because in three years I have followed this site someone winds up posting pics of a sub-legal ram and than gets to eat tons of Internet crow. Lots of salt in the wound.

No regulation, just very good advice.

I always get all my reporting and sealing requirements complete before posting any hunt details or photos.

No, it would just avoid issues about sheep that "Look" to be sub-legal. If it is sealed, that ends the discussion. It might appear sub-legal from the photo angle, but if it is sealed and not confiscated, all is well with the world.

In the past, there have been threads here of successful sheep hunts, with pics and story. Before the sheep was sealed. Then it was declared sub-legal upon sealing. Subsequently, what was posted here was used in court. It isn't so much the eating internet crow that Hayduke mentioned, it's more about protecting yourself all the way around.

That's why majority of folks on this site need to learn to keep there opinions to there self... If the sheep has been sealed idiots will still say something if it looks sublegal even though it has been sealed.

It is a Forum......an open Forum, and with in the rules members are entitled to voice their feelings & opinions. And to be fair, in the past the controversy has mostly been over a member's choice of words, as-in "IT was the last day, it was hard to tell if it was legal, it looked close to legal and was getting dark, so I took a quick shot as it went over the ridge, I found some blood, but after looking for 10 minutes I gave up". I would suggest also members reread their story before posting, and not post a quick story after being awake for 21 hours at 2:30 AM.

maybe some people need to not whine about a sheep being full curl or not especially since there are sheep hunts where they dont have to be full curl or have to be sealed. read your regs people.

Bingo we have a winner... You are right I went through this a few months ago on a bear hunt I as a matter of fact had folks get ahold of the moderators wanting them to turn me in to fish and game. Fact is most folks think
they know all even though they don't know their @$$ from there hand lol

It is not about whining, it is about posting stuff that LEO will use to charge you.

I'm a firm believer in what comes around goes around. One day one the many army chair troopers we have on this forum will get caught up in something and in the end they will mutter to themselves ain't this a *****...

I got a ticket for expired license plates in January, they had expired six years ago.

how can they charge you for something you post if you didn't break the law such as a less than full curl ram...unless you are so stupid to post something that clearly states that you violated the law in the unit you were hunting in. I say again and responding to the post in its original form. you dont need to have a sheep sealed for pictures because in some hunts sealing is not required...also armchair hunters dont be so quick to point out a ram is not full curl because that is not the rule everywhere in the state.

To make it clear for those that don't hang out here everyday.

Hunters, have in the past on this forum posted sheep that were later deemed illegal during the sealing process and their hunt report posted on this forum was used by LEO.

The advice to have your animals checked first could save you a lot of money and embarrassment.
