They were high yesterday but have been coming down all day today. Here is a site that may answer some of your questions.

Fished Montana Creek today. It is still High and cloudy. It is very fishable and clearing up fast.

High water turns them off. They are probably still leary of that. If they aren't behind the pinks and chums, try tossing some leeches into some serious structure. 99 times out 100 you will never reach them, they are buried so far down and underneath the obstructions that its impossible to get them out. You WILL lose flys if you're doing it right. Conversely- you WILL catch fish. When he hits, stick the wood to him and yard him out or he will wrap you up and you will lose him.

When you come to a jam/structure with soft water in front of it, dump some flesh down deep into it. Those soft water pockets are loaded with flesh. High stick it out of the current to get nice dead drift, and don't forget to hold on tight.

Also, don't wade too deep, especially when the water is high. Consider slack water on the inside of bends, areas where you would beach a boat (or walk through). Sometimes theres a hawg laying there during high water, slurping up eggs and flesh moving from the fast water to slow water. They don't have to work so hard that way.

Spent the weekend up north and got into a lot of fish. All streams were running high and off color but a few were pretty clear. Did the best at Byers Creek up the Chulitna. Bears were out in force.
