    Default New Custom Rifle Build

Having a custom built hunting rifle in 7x57mm Mauser and it should be in my hands by next May. Here are some initial specs.

    Shilen chrome-moly match grade barrel

    about 24" from the boltface

    98 Mauser action

    The twist 1-9".

    Timney Sportsman trigger

Model 70 style 3-position safety on the gas shield

The action will be pillar-bedded on aluminum posts, and the chamber area of the barrel and the front of the action ahead of the magazine gets glass-bedded.

Scope base and mounts will be Leupold or Redfield, with the action-bridge single piece mount and twist-in front ring, and windage-adjustable rear ring.

Richards Microfit stock in either American Black walnut, or English walnut, with rosewood forend tip and grip cap. A 1/2" thick solid rubber recoil pad and Monte Carlo cheek piece.

    Hand-rubbed oil finish, of course!

That sounds like a great classic build.
I can't wait to see the pictures.

He should at least put it in the safe next to the savage in hopse that some of the new guns "pretty" will rub off on it.

Now that is to funny man. NO! I won't be selling my Savage 300Win mag, but really looking forward to this rifle and cartridge.

You know, I just might do that but I don't think it will help, but I will put it next to my Savage and hope the "accuracy" rubs off on the new custom, now that would be wonderful - a beautiful rifle that shoots as good as my Savage. Sure hope it does, and you know me, I will try and nurse a load that is more than respectable out of the new 7x57mm Mauser 98
