    Default No pics yet

I am o'ferd so far on Moose sheds. Went out several times in january and February after we had that warm spell, but the snow was still too deep. Hope to find a few later this month and April if it ever warms enough to melt the snow/ice.

I second the AlaskaAntlerworks website. Its a great site with tons of wonderful pictures of sheds, hunting and even the blow-by-blow of their cabin construction. One of the best personal sites i have ever seen.

I'm curious as to how you get your 62 inch measurement. I have a pair I picked up a few years back. I've tried to figure out how big the moose was but find that the slightest twist of the angle of the horns changes the measurement dramatically. I can get that moose to go from just over 40 inches to close to fifty.

    Default i tried this....

i set them on a level surface, and seperated the 2 by nine inches. tried to get them the same " angle" or so to speak as antlers connected by skull plate. sometimes you might need to use a few rags or cardboard to prop up one side to make them look right. the ones i found are at the taxidermist right now getting panel mounted. i'll have to wait and see how they look then.

    Default thanks steve

we actually spotted those from the road. saw a few tines poking out of the grass. there was a really nice bull ( about 65 or so), standing about 100 feet away from them when we picked them up.

    Default Party Hat!!!

I would be back there next year to catch them both still wearing thier party hat. Very nice. That would be awsome to have the sheds and the mount.

    Default Just a few I kept...part 1

I'll show a few of the bigger ones or ones with mass that I kept.
This one I spied from the road and used my spotting scope and took this picture, unfortunetly I couldnt get across the river to fetch it up.

This one I spied on the way out and it was a looooooooong ways off.

Just a close up of it.

I wanted to show the wife how far off I was when I found it,and in this picture up at the ridgeline you see the tip of the hill I was under, but ya'll know how it is in the tundra,it it was farther than it looks, but also when I took the pic I found another one and you can just make it out in the picture.

Finally weasled my way to it and here's the take so far...

    And the close up...

Here I am after chasing a grizzly the day before up the hill behind me.....which we lost but thats another story. On the way down the Mountain and spied this back down it and the next day went back in to retrieve it.Gave this one to a friend. But this picture shows you how tall it is.

Yep! Im still smiling over this find.

Well hopefully ya'll enjoyed the pic's as much as I like finding them.
