Mike Meekins....I have used him. He has a lifetime, a safe lifetime, of flying in SouthCentral AK. knows all the history as well as how to fly! Reliable x 10.

    T-Storm,
First of all....I'm known to all to be basically against scouting by aircraft, before the season starts and even more after the hunting season begins. But.....
Whoever you choose to fly with on your scouting misssion, pay for a super-cub flight.
It is much easier to determine legal rams at 45+-MPH than at 80MPH or 100+MPH.
It is safer to fly close to jagged ridge lines at 45+-MPH.
I strongly advise you to consider only known bush mountain pilots like Bill W and Mike M. I would also strongly consider and recommend Gary Bishop, Grasshopper Air.
All three that I have mentioned fly out of MAt-Su, AK

Thanx, I'm not a fan of air scouting either and I'm not looking for trophies. Just want to get a look at the terrain and if I see white dots, great. I can find the big rams once I'm in there. It might be too expensive for me anyway.

Default Another Vote for Bill W.

I've spent many hours in the back seat of Bill's cub. Very, very good pilot and grows some dang tasty potatoes as well. Flown with Mike M. and Jim at Trail Ridge Air too. Both top shelf as well.

So what is it going to cost you and what are you planning for air time?

Great advice. I did some scouting in an area a few weeks ago. Was in a 185. Much like t-storm I was looking at terrain vs. spotting sheep, but a super cub would have been a much better option if I was focusing on quantity/quality of rams.

Since I have my own cub, I have not flown with any commercial pilot. That being said, I know Mike Meekins fairly well and he has been very gracious to me with advice and information. He is concerned about safety and has a ton of experience flying in the mountains. If I was to charter he would be on the top of my list.

Bearlakeair.net I am available Sept thru freeze up, based out of the valley. A good, honest, experienced service, fully qualified and insured.
I have flown a lot of hunters in years past with those permits.

    M. Meekins and Bill Wiederkehr good as they come. I and my sons have been flying with Loren and Bill for decades for sheep. They are very experienced and KNOW THE AREA VERY WELL. Any questions PM. Good Luck

DO NOT FLY WITH BILL WIEDEKEHR, he will circle goats that you are hunting and put guides/ clients right on top of you

Bill flew me into the Talkeetna Mts a couple years ago and did a fine job landing us on a mountain ridge!
