If near glaciers or glacial rivers as sheep and goat hunters often are.......Dig a hole in the gravel and the ground temp will be very cool/cold, much colder than the 70 degree air temp. Or, with sturdy plastic bags, double bag the meat and submerg it in glacial waters. As a rafter I have often, in the past, purposely taken the temp of glacial waters and they always were 37 or 38 degrees. And that is how I keep sheep meat cold on those early season, mid Aug, sheep hunts.
