Thread: outboard skag repair question?

  1. #1

    Default outboard skag repair question?

i broke the skag about half way on my honda 4hp 4 stroke. should i just buy a repair skag kit from honda? or is there after market or home built devises that are more durable? what about rock guard devises that would offer a fix of the skag and maybe more protection?
    thanks for your thoughts,
    steve

I have added material to many broken skegs, and any rock guard is better than none

Iím curious did you make a new sleg out of aluminum and welded it on or do you just weld the old skeg back on?

if the piece was found or not completely gone I would reuse the original useing 5356 alloy wire if it is gone I have added skeg replacements and I have also just added regular structrual 6061 aluminum cut and ground to fit
