1st time RV trip
I am coming to Alaska for the 1st time 7/22 - 7/30. We have a smaller 24 foot Rv rented. What are the rules for unmarked access points, and public grounds for overnight parking? In Minnesota where I live, there are many sites where you can back in, and stay overnight for free, on a first come first serve basis. I just wanted to know whether I had to stay strictly in traditional campgrounds or if I could get a little further off the beaten path.
heres some nice places to camp for free down on the kenai peninsula.
welcome to alaska. you know I always thought a 24 foot motorhome was just about right.
if you hit town late at night and want to call it quits the fred meyers store in soldotna will let you park there overnight, no worries.
if you come to the kenai i recommend this map, and i see this website sells it. it will show you all the places referenced above.
For what it's worth, on all AK highways I see RV's pulled over along side the road filling quite a few wide spots for the night. Some public land is marked "no trespassing" for whatever reason, but a lot of it seems to be fair game.
