I was there last week, chasing reds in subsistence netting with a local friend and excercising non-resident entitlement in bottom fishing.

Net fishing was sporadic; we stretched near the approach to the Buskin and hit anywhere between 7 and 34.
Bottom fishing was superior; butts all over with the major player coming in at plus 160 lbs. and costing me the loss a hundred dollar bet.

Kodiak can be a dandy, we made it 5 days with flat seas and no rain. My illustrator and I caught plenty with no dissapointments.

Beyond fish I have intersting news for those who know me and follow what I do. I signed a 12 month lease that starts Janaurary 2012 in Kodiak. I'm now in for the long run. It took over two decades, and the loss of my wife, but I'm there, finally.

My appreciation to those who have supported me...
