Default Buoy size to lift a 16 pound anchor

Just picked up a 16.5 pound claw type anchor for when we use our jet boat in the salt. Plan on adding about 15 feet of 3/8 chain as well. No need to go overboard on the chain as I detest anchoring anyhow and prefer to drift for butts.

Will a 18 inch buoy be enough to retrive the anchor and chain using a buoy retrive system (you know, the ring around the rope).?

    A2 should do it.

I have a 16# bruce clone with ~30' of 1/4" chain, and an A-2 buoy will pull it with ease.

I generally drift when fishing, but we anchor up when playing on shore.
