Thread: Float Check Ride

    Default Float Check Ride

    Hey all-

I'm looking for a float checkride, and have seen Heidi Ruess mentioned many times here. I called her, but she's unavailable until the end of July.

    Any other suggestions?

I will be in a Stinson 108, with an O-470 CS, if it matters.

    Thanks,
    Jason

Vern Kingsford, Moose Pass, http://www.alaskafloatratings.com/ is an FAA designated examiner for float ratings.

Dean Eichholtz does all of my check-rides. He is an old Navy A-6 Intruder pilot and has been a DPE for over 25 years I think... He works in Soldotna as the Falcon Insurance guy, 262-5548
And he lives out by Scout Lake near Sterling.
Just make sure you logs are OK, and your IACRA stuff is good to go...

Jason, another vote for Dean. He's spoken of very highly of my pilot friends on the Kenai . . .

I am, I'm just looking for an examiner.

Thanks for the responses. I do remember reading Dean's name on this forum before too.

    Hey Griz!!

I was in my early 40's 20 years ago so I'm understanding the issue. I can't pull 5 G's anymore or not for long anyway. I have an RV-4 at the 80% with 90% left to go stage that looks like it will get put on the back burner due to my impending move to ID. I have some friends in Washington State that are trying to get me into soaring so I may be able to do some rolls and loops and a split S or 2 in one of those long wing things.

I'm from FL but was able to escape at an early age...it's full of Yankees now!!

    Stay cool!!!
