    Default Togiak?

    Hi All,

I'm floating a tributary of the Togiak River for work starting next week and should have plenty of time to fish. I know the river we are floating has Dolly, grayling, some rainbows, and gets decent runs of Chums, Kings, and Sockeye. I was thinking of bringing a medium action and a heavy action spinning rods and maybe my 9wt flyrod. I'm not sure about what kind of tackle I should bring though. So my question is: what would you bring on a trip like this? I've never gotten to fish out there before so I really don't know where to begin. Any help is greatly appreciated, James

    Depends which Trib you're floating.

    Pungokeepuk? Cache? Ongivinuk? Kimo?

Each one has it's own dynamic. The Char will be present in pretty much all of 'em. If you're targeting Kings, go with the 9wt otherwise it would be superfluous.

    Tackle.

Kings the usual streamer flies work well. Spin gear should include vibrax and pixies.

Char/Dollies swing leeches, sculpin, smolt patterns (don't leave the beads at home either).

Grayling small mepps or dry flies.

    Thanks Hippie,

We're floating from Nagugun Lake down the Nayorurun River to the Togiak. Thanks again for the suggestions, james
