    Smile .416 Remington in Alaska

What do folks use the .416 Remington for in Alaska. Does anyone use it for their "go to" gun for any particular game or hunting situation? I think of it as a gun for large bear where it would work very well; however, for an all around "go to" gun, I would think the .338 Win Mag would be better...

    Just for fun...........

They seem to be fairly common among Brownbear guides, and I think that would be a good use for them. They seem to combine the better aspects of both the 375 H&H and the 458 Win. As far as for an all around gun I'm sure there are some who use it as such, I hunted eeverything for one season with my 458, but I think mostly they are relegated to Brown bear duty.

For charging ground squirrils. If you get a good shoulder hit it will turn them so you can finish them off with a heart shot. Actually I don't use mine as a go to gun but it would work pretty good as it will put a 300gr bullet out about the same speed as a 338 will a 250gr.
